Andy Boay is back already. The Tonstartssbandht dude, real name Andy White, dropped You Took That Walk For The Two Of Us just last year, and he's wasted no time returning with a new full length. It's called Doomed, and yes, that name carries some weight.
White tracked the whole thing on a Tascam 688 cassette recorder, which fits his warm, lo-fi lineage going all the way back to the woozy loops he's built with brother Edwin. He split sessions between two spots: the New York Center for Creativity and Dance in Manhattan's East Village, and the Amelia Street House in Orlando's Lake Eola Heights neighborhood.
Lead track "Child" is out now, and it's a gem: hazy, patient, unmistakably his. Anyone who lived inside those endless Sorcerer jams knows the feeling.
Two solo records in two years is a killer pace. Doomed sounds like Boay following his own strange thread. We're in.
