Bradford Cox is back, and he brought new songs. The Deerhunter frontman and Atlas Sound mastermind has been off the grid for years, both projects going dark after their last shows in 2019. There was that one strange set at an Athens vintage market in 2023, all improvised noise, but that was about it. Then came the surprise.
Atlas Sound turned up as a last-minute add to Philadelphia's Making Time ∞ festival, and on Sunday Cox played a full set of brand new material. First real show in seven years. For anyone who has lived inside Halcyon Digest since 2010 or worn out "My Sharona" era loops from Logos, this is a moment worth celebrating.
Cox has always been restless, chasing tones and textures most players never touch. That instinct never left. New songs, a new room, a crowd that showed up hungry.
The gap is over. The catalog gets bigger. Long may he ramble.
