Cell Rot are back, and Oakland's fastest, nastiest hardcore crew are finishing what they started. Last year's Parasite was half a story: recorded with punk and metal legend Jack Shirley, it laid the groundwork. Now comes Paradise, the second panel of a two-part project that's been building all along.
Lead single "Paradise/Parasite II" opens the record and hammers on the closeness of those two words. It's a ripper. Vocalist Kyle growls "Paradise! Searchin' for your paradise!" then flips it: "Parasite! You're feedin' like a parasite!" The concept lands because the delivery is vicious, and the Shirley production gives it that raw, room-shaking weight he brought to Parasite.
If you caught the first half, you already know how this band moves: short, sharp, ugly in the best way. This track keeps the momentum roaring straight into the new era.
Two records, one idea, no wasted breath. Cell Rot understand that the line between heaven and rot is thinner than you think. Turn it up loud.
