claire rousay never stays idle for long. The emo ambient cult hero just dropped a collaborative record with Martyna Basta last week, and now she's back already with news of a solo EP. Out next week, on holding lands as the first release on her new label quality sounds ltd. That's a big moment.
If you've followed rousay since the field recording sprawl of 2022's everything perfect is already here, you know she treats texture like melody. Voice memos, ambient drift, diaristic whispers: she builds whole worlds from the quiet corners most artists ignore. The lead track "holy sedative" sits right in that pocket, tender and blurry and alive.
Running her own label feels like the natural next step for someone this prolific. More control, more room to move, more gems coming at her own pace. She's one of the most interesting voices in experimental music right now, and she keeps proving it.
on holding arrives next week. Go hear "holy sedative" and get ready.
