daine – “Wishing Well”

daine – “Wishing Well”

daine is finally dropping their debut album, In Endless Awe & Agony, next month, and the rollout keeps getting better. We've already lived with the singles "PQC," "Love Love (Love Love)," and the aldn collab "I Used To Kill," plus that slick cover of Martin Solveig and Dragonette's "Hello." Now comes "Wishing Well," and it's a left turn.

This one's a gentle ballad. Country-adjacent acoustic instrumentation, soft and open, nothing like the glitchy hyperpop daine built their name on. But listen closer and that sheen of intentional artificiality is still all over it, the same uncanny polish that made their earlier tracks so magnetic.

It's pretty. It's also strange in the best way, the sound of an artist stretching their palette right before a debut lands. For someone this far into their singles run, showing a quieter, acoustic side is a bold move.

A gem that proves daine can do tender too. Listen below.
