David Sylvian Announces New Album The Distance Between The Killer And The

David Sylvian is back with a new album. The Distance Between The Killer And The Killing arrives next year, and it's billed as the proper followup to 2009's Manafon, that stunner where he pushed his voice into free improvisation and never looked back.

Of course, Sylvian hasn't been sitting still. Since Manafon he gave us the ambient gem There's A Light That Enters Houses With No Other House In Sight, plus a handful of compilations to keep us company. This new record feels like the real next chapter.

Sylvian's history runs deep here. From Japan's glossy art-pop days to the hushed beauty of Secrets Of The Beehive in 1987, he's always chased the edges of sound. His later work traded hooks for texture, and Manafon took that to its limit.

Fourteen years is a long wait. But Sylvian has never rushed a moment, and his patience usually pays off.

A new Sylvian album is an event. Mark the calendar and get ready.
