Death From Above 1979 are back, and the Canadian duo sound meaner than ever. They just announced Private Lives, their new album and the followup to 2021's Is 4 Lovers, alongside a sprawling North American tour. The title track is out now.
It's a ripper. That signature bass-and-drums assault, the same racket that made You're a Woman, I'm a Machine a cult classic back in 2004, is still fully intact here. Jesse Keeler and Sebastien Grainger have spent two decades proving that two people can make more noise than most full bands. This track leans into that.
The new one hits hard and fast, all fuzz and swagger, closer in spirit to old belters like "Little Girl" than anything polished. And the tour promises to bring that chaos to stages coast to coast.
Death From Above 1979 have never known how to be gentle. Private Lives sounds like a band still hungry, still loud, still worth losing your voice over.
Turn it up.
