Bradford Cox is back, and the momentum is building fast. A few weeks ago the Deerhunter frontman returned to the stage at Philly's Making Time ∞ fest, his first proper set in seven years, playing entirely new material under his Atlas Sound alias. That alone was a moment. Anyone who lived inside Logos or the gorgeous sprawl of 2011's Parallax knows how special solo Cox can get.
Now the news keeps coming. Yesterday we learned Cox will bring Atlas Sound to Primavera Sound next year. Today we find out he and Deerhunter bandmate Lockett Pundt have joined the already stacked Big Ears 2027 lineup in Knoxville.
Pundt's presence sweetens the deal: his Lotus Plaza work and Deerhunter gems like "Desire Lines" always carried their own quiet gravity. Two of indie's most restless minds, back on real stages, in a festival built for exactly this kind of exploration.
The reemergence is real. Mark your calendars.
