DIIV – “Trillions”

DIIV just dropped "Trillions," and the video is a straight-up flex. The band suits up, lounges around lavish mansions, fans themselves with stacks of crisp twenties, and reads fictional magazine headlines about their own evolution. "DIIV GOES POP," one cover screams. Maybe it's true. Maybe it's a wink.

This is the Brooklyn outfit leaning into something new, and it's a killer look on them. We've watched these guys grow since Oshin back in 2012, through the hazy shoegaze sprawl of Is the Is Are and the heavier pull of Deceiver. Zachary Cole Smith has always known how to bury a hook under all that reverb. Here the gloss comes to the surface.

"Trillions" is a shimmering gem, bright where you might expect murk, confident where you might expect drift. The whole thing feels like a band having fun with their own myth.

Print media, still good for something. DIIV sound like they're just getting started.
