Emma Ruth Rundle – “God’s Picture”

Emma Ruth Rundle is back with another taste of her incoming record. The new single is called "God's Picture," and it opens on an image of apocalypse: "God's got a picture of the whole world burning, down to the details of his hot white ash." That line sets the tone. Rundle has always been a master of the bleak and the heavy, from the slow-burn devastation of 2018's On Dark Horses to the raw piano confessional of 2021's Engine of Hell.

"God's Picture" arrives ahead of her new album These Killing Times, out in a couple of weeks. We've already gotten the early tracks "Powerless" and "Enough," both stunners, and this one keeps the streak alive. It's a moody, crushing gem that builds like a storm rolling in off the horizon.

Few artists sit in this space of dread and beauty as well as she does. Rundle turns the end of the world into a thing worth hearing. This one's a belter.
