Erasure are back with a new album. It's called Radio!! Radio!!, and the first taste is a track called "Wings Of Love." Vince Clarke has been chasing the perfect partnership since the start: he wrote most of Depeche Mode's Speak & Spell in 1981, then bailed, then built Yazoo with Alison Moyet for two flawless records before that fizzled too.
Then came the NME ad that changed everything. Andy Bell answered, and Erasure was born, a duo that's stuck together for decades now. Think "A Little Respect," think "Chains Of Love," think the shimmer of Wild! and the pure pop rush of The Innocents. That's the lineage here.
"Wings Of Love" is a stunner, all glittering synths and Bell's soaring voice doing what it always does best. Clarke still knows how to build a hook that lodges in your skull for days.
Radio!! Radio!! is coming, and this first belter suggests the pair still have plenty left. Turn it up loud.
