Fine Food Market is going long. Sophie Perras, the Montreal multidisciplinary artist behind the project, has announced her debut full-length, Alas Time Has Passed, landing this fall. It follows last year's EP, the one with the mouthful of a title: I'm afraid to be in love with someone who crashes their car that much. That record was a gem, all dreamy folk edges and indie pop warmth, and it made us pay attention.
Now she's scaling up. The lead track, "Losing At Life," gives us the first taste of where this album lives, and it carries the same hushed, hooky pull that made the EP such a sleeper. Perras writes like someone who trusts a quiet melody to do heavy lifting, then lets it bloom into something bigger.
A debut LP is a real moment for any artist working this deep in the folk pop underground. Alas Time Has Passed feels like the step up she's been building toward. Go press play.
