Fontaines D.C. are back with "Tongue," the second single from their upcoming record Dopamine Chamber. The album is shaping up to be one of the biggest rock releases of the fall, and this new track makes a strong case for it. The Dublin crew have come a long way since the post-punk snarl of Dogrel in 2019, and even further from the gloom of A Hero's Death. "Tongue" keeps that momentum rolling.
The band have been road-testing new material live, and we already got the lead single "Marianne." Dopamine Chamber also brings their first-ever guest collaborator: Rosalía turns up on the still-unheard "Where Is Gone?" That pairing alone is worth the wait.
"Tongue" is a gem. It carries the melodic ambition they've chased since Skinty Fia, but with a sharper edge and real swagger. This is a band at full stride, confident and hungry.
Fall is stacked, but Fontaines D.C. just reminded everyone why they sit near the top of the pile.
