Hot Chip are back with a new album. It's called A Long Way From Kansas, and the London crew just dropped lead single "Random Violence" to set the whole thing in motion.
This is the band that gave us "Ready For The Floor" and the gorgeous "Over And Over" from 2006's The Warning, so expectations run high. Good news: the new track delivers. "Random Violence" moves like classic Hot Chip, all glowing synths, aching vocals, and that signature push and pull between melancholy and the dancefloor.
They've spent two decades perfecting this balance, from In Our Heads to A Bath Full Of Ecstasy, and they sound locked in here. The production feels warm and alive. Alexis Taylor's voice still hits that tender spot it found on "Flutes" years back.
A new era is officially underway, and the early signs point to a stunner. Hot Chip rarely miss, and this track keeps that streak intact.
Press play on "Random Violence" now. The album can't come soon enough.
