Hot Chip are back with a new album. It's called A Long Way From Kansas, and the London crew just dropped lead single "Random Violence" to set the table.
You know these guys by now. They've been building glittery, heartbroken dance-pop since The Warning back in 2006, and tracks like "Over and Over" and "Ready for the Floor" turned them into festival mainstays. "Random Violence" keeps that thread going: a propulsive groove, Alexis Taylor's aching vocal, synths that shimmer and ache in equal measure. It's a belter.
What makes Hot Chip special is how they fold the personal into the party. The 2010 One Life Stand era proved they could break your heart on the dancefloor, and this new one sounds built on that same tension. Expect the live show to be a stunner.
Few bands have stayed this consistent this long. A Long Way From Kansas lands as another chapter from a group that keeps finding new rooms in the same house. Turn "Random Violence" up loud.
