John Talabot is back, and he's thinking big. The Catalan electronic producer just announced a new album, Music for Empty Stadiums, arriving this fall on his own OR imprint. This is a moment worth marking. Talabot has always been a singles and EPs guy, dropping tracks in short bursts rather than committing to the longform grind. His last proper full-length was 2012's stunner ƒIN, one of the decade's great headphone records, followed by The Night Land in 2017 under his Talaboman alias with Axel Boman.
Since then? A near silence, broken only by a couple of Talaboman singles back in 2023.
So a full-length under his own name feels like an event. Lead track "Nokik Messiah" is a slow-building gem, all patient textures and hypnotic pulse, the kind of thing that rewards the wait. The title alone tells you the mood: vast, hushed, human.
Ten years is a long time between solo albums. This one sounds worth every minute.
