Julianna Barwick and Mary Lattimore Share Songs From New Film Score

Bon Iver's Justin Vernon and The National's Aaron Dessner are back in the room together, scoring Threshold, a new documentary about Olympic skier Jessie Diggins.

These two have history. Dessner produced huge chunks of Big Red Machine, and their fingerprints are all over each other's work going back years. Think the atmospheric ache of "22 (OVER S∞∞N)" from 2016, or the way Dessner built cathedrals of sound on Sleep Well Beast. This partnership always delivers.

A film score is the perfect canvas for them. Diggins is all endurance and grit, and you can already imagine the pair matching that with slow-building swells and those fragile, cracked-open vocal moments Vernon does better than anyone.

No word yet on a standalone soundtrack release, but the pairing alone is a gem worth watching. Two of indie's most restless minds, chasing something new again.

Diggins pushes limits on snow. These two push them in the studio. Bring on the belters.
