Katie Dey is back. The Melbourne digital pop auteur just announced her new album universal will, landing in four weeks, and it breaks a quiet stretch that stretched back three years to never falter hero girl. If you don't count last year's rarities collection, this is her first proper full length since then, and that wait is almost over.
Details are thin. Not much on Bandcamp, Instagram, or her site yet, but we don't need the whole picture to know what's coming. Lead track "for you" is out now, and it's a stunner.
Dey has always built these glitchy, warped little worlds, from flood network back in 2016 to the aching mywv, and "for you" sits right in that lineage. Fragile, strange, beautiful.
She's one of the most singular voices in digital pop, and she's never made the same record twice. Four weeks out, this one already feels like a moment. Go hear "for you" and start counting down.
