Kings Of Leon are back with album number ten. It's called O My Beloved, and it lands in November, another chapter for the Followill clan who've been at this since Youth And Young Manhood in 2003. Lead single "My Whole World" is the opener, and it's a warm one. Loose, easygoing, unhurried.
Caleb sings "I'm grateful today for my whole world / That sweet peace of mind," and you believe him. This track has a stretching, yawning quality, all intimacy and glow. It's the sound of a band comfortable in its own skin, miles from the swagger of "Sex On Fire" but no less confident.
You can hear their recent Zach Bryan collabs seeping in, that rootsy warmth pulling them somewhere new. These guys have always known how to write a slow burner, from "Cold Desert" to "Comeback Story." This feels like a natural next step.
Ten albums deep and still chasing the moment. That's the kind of longevity worth celebrating.
