Knifeplay are back, and the wait is finally over. The Philadelphia dream-rock crew led by TJ Strohmer announce their new LP, What Is Truth?, and they're sharing lead track "Love Song" to mark the moment. It's been a long road since 2022's Animal Drowning, the dreamy, dreary sophomore stunner that put them on the map.
Since then the band kept momentum alive: intermittent tours, that ever-evolving Christmas EP they update every year, and the gorgeous Live In Seattle collection. That six-song set teased several unreleased epics begging for proper studio treatment. Good news. Those very songs now anchor this new record.
"Love Song" carries the same deeply dramatic weight that made Animal Drowning such a slow-burn gem. Strohmer's voice still aches. The guitars still swell like they've got somewhere to be.
This feels like the proper payoff Knifeplay fans have waited nearly half a decade for. A band this patient rarely misses. What Is Truth? could be their defining moment.
