L7 have shared a new track called "Loma Linda," and it arrives loaded with weight. The band lost bassist Jennifer Finch in July, days after she revealed a brain cancer diagnosis. She was 59.
Before her death, L7 announced their final tour, and at Finch's request, the band is pushing forward. That run kicks off Tuesday in San Diego. If you came up on Bricks Are Heavy in 1992, you know what Finch brought: that low-end snarl under "Pretend We're Dead," the attitude all over "Shitlist," the grit that made L7 one of the realest bands of the era.
"Loma Linda" lands as both a send-off and a statement. It's a reminder that this band never did anything halfway, from the raw early days to Hungry for Stink and beyond. The track honors Finch by doing exactly what she wanted: keeping L7 loud and moving.
A fitting goodbye from one of punk's toughest crews. Go give it a spin.
