Phoebe Bridgers is going to the movies, and not just for the soundtrack. She's landed a starring role in a new Lance Oppenheim film opposite Robert Pattinson, a casting curveball nobody had on the card. Bridgers has always been a screen presence in her own right, the way she framed Punisher back in 2020, all mood and slow burn, felt cinematic before she ever stepped in front of a camera. Now she's crossing fully into acting.
Oppenheim is a sharp choice here. His documentary eye brings texture, and pairing that with Pattinson's off-kilter instincts sets up something strange and watchable. Bridgers slots right in.
We've watched her build this world track by track, from Stranger in the Alps to the boygenius run, and the leap to film feels like the logical next chapter. She was never going to stay in one lane.
No release date yet, but consider us fully locked in. This one could be a sleeper stunner.
