Lorenzo Senni is back, and he's bringing the trance arpeggios with him. The producer has announced All Ages, his first new album in six years, landing on Warp next month. For anyone who lived inside Persona in 2016 or got lost in the pointillist rush of Scacco Matto, this is the moment we've been waiting on.
The opener, "Art Life & Skateboarding," is a stunner. Senni pulls in two legends of American skateboarding, Chad Muska and Jamie Thomas, which tells you exactly where his head is at. The track builds the way his best work always does: all tension, no release, pure rave adrenaline suspended in midair.
Xiu Xiu's Jamie Stewart turns up on another cut, and that pairing feels right for someone who's spent a career bending pop euphoria into something stranger.
Six years is a long wait. Senni sounds ready. All Ages could be the ripper that reintroduces him to everyone who missed the first wave.
