Anthony Gonzalez is putting this one out himself, releasing it through his own imprint, Other Suns. That move alone tells you something: this is his vision, uncompromised, delivered on his terms.
We have been waiting for this. It has been years since the widescreen synth swells of Hurry Up, We're Dreaming turned "Midnight City" into a generational anthem back in 2011, and Gonzalez has never stopped chasing that feeling. Remember the shoegaze haze of Saturdays = Youth? The cinematic reach of Junk? Every era finds him building bigger worlds out of neon and nostalgia.
Now he owns the whole operation. New label, new record, full creative control, and a discography that has earned him this kind of freedom. That is a rare position for any artist to reach.
