Parquet Courts’ Andrew Savage Launches New Band Iconic Fugues With “2025

Andrew Savage has a new band. The Parquet Courts frontman, who dropped solo work under the A. Savage banner, launches Iconic Fugues today. The debut single is "2025 Dream/2025 Blues," and it's a stunner.

The track shuffles along as folk-rock, loose and warm, clocking in at six minutes. It technically packs two songs' worth of lyrics into one flowing piece. Call it a double feature that never breaks stride.

Savage has always had this restless streak. From the jittery wordplay of Parquet Courts' Light Up Gold back in 2012 to the slower, searching textures of his 2017 solo record Thawing Dawn, he keeps chasing new rooms to write in. Iconic Fugues feels like the next door opening.

There's a weariness in the title and a hope buried underneath it. That tension is the whole appeal here, dream and blues sitting side by side.

New band, new name, same sharp pen. If this opening belter is the blueprint, we're all in.
