Pet Fox are back with another taste of their new record. Earlier this month the Boston trio announced Balance and dropped its title track, a live-wire ripper that reminded everyone why their scrappy hooks hit so hard. Now they've followed it with "Avoidant."
This one's a different beast. Where the title cut ran hot, "Avoidant" pulls inward: somber, confessional, the kind of track that sits with you long after it fades. It's the emotional flip side of everything they've been building since 2021's Woke Up Weird, that same knack for turning restless energy into something you can actually feel.
Theo Hartlett's guitar work has always carried a wiry tension, and here it breathes instead of races. The result is a gem that proves Balance isn't just a title, it's a promise.
Pet Fox have spent years honing this quiet-loud push and pull, and "Avoidant" might be their most vulnerable moment yet. The album can't come soon enough.
