Troye Sivan is back with "Party," and the video alone is worth your afternoon. It opens on a muddy medieval battlefield with narration from Sir Ian McKellen, an unmistakable voice and a full-circle moment: the two did Waiting For Godot together when Sivan was 14. When the track kicks in, Sivan retreats to his castle for a choreography-heavy bacchanalia. Fair warning, there's some NSFW action in the mix.
The clip looks astonishing and it never stops moving. The track itself is a belter too, a Madonna sample folded into Sivan's self-styled talk-singing approach. We've watched him grow from the wounded synth-pop of Blue Neighbourhood in 2015 to the sweaty confidence of Something To Give Each Other, and this feels like the next step in that arc.
Remember "My My My!" and how it announced a whole new era? "Party" carries that same swagger, only bigger and stranger. Sivan knows exactly what he's building here.
