Shady Bug are back, and they just dropped "seed." The St. Louis crew are the newest names on Julia's War Recordings, and their new LP I wanted to be there lands at the end of this month. That's October, somehow. The year moves fast.
"seed" follows lead single "my night routine," and it's a gem. If you've lived with Lemon Lime from 2018, you know this band bend fuzz and ache into something that feels lived in, not posed. That slack, searching quality is all over their catalog, and it carries straight into this new era.
Signing to Julia's War puts them in righteous company, a label with a real ear for the scrappy and the heartfelt. The pairing makes sense. These tracks feel like a band settling into their own skin, loud when they want to be, tender when it counts.
Two singles in, and the album shape is coming into focus. Shady Bug are building a moment. Don't sleep on this one.
