Slipknot are back, and they brought a ripper. "Arsenal" is the first new track from the masked Iowa crew since 2023's "Bone Church," and it lands after a stretch of serious lineup upheaval. Drummer Jay Weinberg exited late that year, saying he was "heartbroken and blindsided." Turntablist and keyboardist Sid Wilson followed him out the door earlier this year, reportedly over how he treated his bandmates.
So this is a new era. "Arsenal" marks the recorded debut of drummer Eloy Casagrande, and it's a chance to hear what this refreshed nine build sounds like in the studio.
Slipknot have always thrived on chaos and reinvention, from the raw fury of their 1999 self-titled debut through the melodic swing of "Vermillion" and the sprawl of ".5: The Gray Chapter." A shakeup like this could have rattled them. Instead they sharpened.
This one hits like a band with something to prove. Turn it up.
