Stella Lefty is back in the headlines, this time courtesy of Saturday Night Live. The show dropped a cut-for-time Weekend Update bit leaning hard into the "Stella Thefty" premise that's followed the Groupon-heiress-turned-country-folk-pop singer since her debut landed. You know the story by now. Her breakout "Boston" still sits at #2 in America, but it borrowed enough from Noah Kahan's "Stick Season" that Kahan picked up a writing credit. Then eagle-eyed listeners clocked more tracks across the record pulling from other obvious hits. The jokes basically wrote themselves.
Now SNL gets in on the fun, and the timing is loaded. With Ed Sheeran bumping Macklemore off his tour, Lefty had a brief window out of the snark spotlight. That window just slammed shut.
Is it fair? Depends who you ask. But the bit lands, and the conversation around Lefty's debut isn't slowing down anytime soon.
One thing's clear: the internet still loves a good origin-story villain.
