SOAK is back, and Bridie Monds-Watson has a new record on the way. It's called decembers, and the title track just landed as our first proper look at the era. This has been building since June, when SOAK dropped "Death Valley Fridge Magnet," a heart-wrenching acoustic ballad that hinted at where this project was headed. The new one keeps that spirit going. "decembers" is a poignant, slow-burning gem, the kind of track that rewards you for sitting still and letting it breathe.
It's a long way from the wide-eyed teenage debut of Before We Forgot How To Dream back in 2015, and even from the sharper turns of Grim Town. Monds-Watson keeps growing, keeps digging deeper, keeps finding new corners of that singular voice. The songwriting feels lived-in now. Weathered in the best way.
We don't have a full tracklist to obsess over yet, but the momentum is real. Two singles in, and decembers already feels like a stunner waiting to happen.
