Spiral XP are back, and the Seattle crew have news worth sitting up for. It's been a stretch since we heard from them: their 2024 full-length debut I Wish I Was A Rat was a scrappy little gem, all fuzz and heart. Today they return with a fresh lineup and a new EP called Blue Earth, and the title track is already out in the wild.
The song picks up where Rat left off, that same blown-out shoegaze crunch, but there's a new confidence in the low end. New members will do that. It's a sleeper of a track that builds slow before the guitars swallow everything whole.
For a band that made noise on the strength of one raw, promising debut, this feels like a real step. Bigger sound, bigger stakes, same DIY soul that made them worth watching in the first place.
