Spiral XP are back. The dreamy Seattle outfit drop their new EP Blue Earth this Friday, and today they've shared another reason to lean in: a blearily pretty gem called "Faith Electric."
The title track already won us over the week it landed, and this one keeps the momentum rolling. It's built on a huge bass-and-drums groove, then layered with organ sustain, sheets of guitar noise, and those echoed-out ba-ba-ba harmonies. Think late-'90s Yo La Tengo, somewhere in the And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out zone. Pure comfort haze.
What makes it land is the restraint. The band lets the track breathe, trusting the groove to carry everything while the noise swells and recedes around it. That patience is the whole craft here.
Spiral XP have always understood that pretty and loud can live in the same room. "Faith Electric" is more proof, a sleeper that rewards the headphone listen.
Blue Earth is out Friday. Get in now.
