Ben Schwab is back with a new Sylvie record, and it sounds like a stunner in the making. The LA songwriter, once a key part of Drugdealer, spun off Sylvie in 2021 as his own vehicle for lush, sun-warmed '70s singer-songwriter craft. That self-titled debut was a gem: soft-focus arrangements, aching melodies, the kind of tracks that feel older than they are.
Since then he's kept moving. He turned up on 2023's Margo Guryan tribute Like Someone I Know, a fitting move for a guy this deep in vintage pop songcraft. Now comes the payoff.
The new full-length is called New Season, and the lead single "Rina" features Alex Amen. It's a warm, unhurried belter that leans into everything Sylvie does best: harmony, space, patience.
This is an artist building something real, one record at a time. Momentum is on his side. If "Rina" is the doorway, New Season could be the moment Sylvie steps fully into the light.
