Trusselina are back, and they've got an EP on the way. Hayden McGarvey (once of Bleary Eyed) and Mikaela Oppenheimer (formerly Hello Mary) launched this Philly duo in July with a pair of gems, "Gastro" and "Trusselina Archimboldi." Those tracks planted them right in the middle of the rising glitchy, folky indie-electronic wave, all twee charm and Bard-affiliated weirdness. Now the moment gets bigger.
The duo just announced their debut EP, The Point's A Truss, My Trusselina, and shared a new track called "The Club." It's a killer next step. If you fell for the woozy textures on those first two cuts, this one keeps the momentum going, splitting the difference between fragile folk and blown-out electronic fuzz.
Both these players know their way around a hook. Oppenheimer's work in Hello Mary always leaned toward the jagged and tender at once, and that instinct carries here. Trusselina feel like a real band, not a side project.
