Weyes Blood is back, and the wait is nearly over. Natalie Mering hasn't dropped a full record since 2022's And In The Darkness, Hearts Aglow, which means it's been almost four years since we got new material under her own name. She stayed busy though. There were soundtrack contributions, collaborations, even a backup vocal turn for Olivia Rodrigo on SNL a few months back.
Now the real move: Mering debuted two brand new tracks, "Modern Dreams" and "Good Lovers," at a special orchestral show for BBC Proms in London this week. Orchestral is the right setting for her. Anyone who fell for the cinematic sweep of "Andromeda" or the slow-burn devastation of "Movies" back on Titanic Rising knows Mering builds worlds, not just tracks.
Two new songs in one night feels like a gearing-up moment. A new era is coming into focus.
The streets have been starving for this. Weyes Blood is finally feeding us again.
