Bobby Hussy is back, and this time it's Whippets. The Madison garage-punk lifer already gave us III on New Year's Day with Wristwatch, that raw ripper of a record, and now his poppier project steps up. Whippets have announced a new album called No Skulls.
If you know Hussy's catalog, you know the range. Wristwatch runs loud and fast, but Whippets works a different angle: '90s alt-rock hooks cut with grooving, post-punky Y2K indie. Think jangle and swagger in equal measure. It's a sound built for repeat spins.
Two tracks have landed ahead of the record, and they show off both sides of the band. There's melody. There's grit. There's that Madison DIY spirit that runs through everything Hussy touches.
