Willi Carlisle just dropped "Gas Station," another taste of his Tyler Childers-produced double album The Universal Bubba, and it's a gem.
The record's shaping up to be a stunner. We've already heard the old-school folk reel "Mason Jar At The Center Of The World" and the barroom ripper "Marlboro Vinyassa," two tracks that showed off Carlisle's range from front porch to bar stool. Now "Gas Station" lands, and it comes with an extremely fun music video to boot.
Anyone who caught Peculiar, Missouri in 2022 knows Carlisle writes with heart and humor, the kind of songwriter who can break you and make you grin in the same verse. This new belter keeps that streak alive. Childers behind the boards feels like the right call, two Appalachian storytellers pushing each other.
A double album is a bold swing, and Carlisle's got the catalog to back it up. The momentum is real here. Press play on "Gas Station" and let it pull you in.
