You Are An Angel (Glass Beach’s J McClendon) Shares Album Outtakes “Candyglass”

J McClendon is back with two new tracks. The former Glass Beach mastermind, whose hyper-online emo project gave us the maximalist sprawl of 2019's the first glass beach album, dropped these under her solo banner You Are An Angel. They're called "Candyglass" and "Baroque," and they're leftovers from the sessions that built her debut It's Fine To Dream earlier this year.

Leftovers, sure. But these are the kind of outtakes that would headline someone else's record.

McClendon has always had a knack for making chaos feel intimate, the way "bimprov" folded noise into something tender. That instinct carries here. Two more gems from an artist who keeps mining the space between glitch and heartbreak, refusing to waste a single idea from a fertile stretch.

If It's Fine To Dream marked a fresh chapter, these are the margins where the best writing hides. Fans of the Glass Beach era should not sleep on this pair.

Go press play. Both are worth your afternoon.
