Your Old Droog is back with a new album called Bread & Butter, and the story behind it hits hard. When his family moved from Ukraine to Brooklyn, they were broke and homesick, spreading caviar thin across plain bread just to make it feel like home. That's the whole title. That's the whole mood.
Droog has been on an absolute tear lately, dropping LP after LP since he first surfaced back in 2014 with that killer self-titled tape that had everybody guessing he was secretly Nas. This one pulls in Evidence, Oddisee, and Conductor Williams, a lineup stacked with heavy hitters.
The lead single "I Don't Care" teams him up with Flying Lotus and Georgia Anne Muldrow, and it's a gem: woozy, warm, and razor sharp. It carries the same lyrical density that made cuts like "Nutty Bar" land so clean.
Droog keeps building his catalog brick by brick. Bread & Butter feels like another belter in a run that refuses to slow down.
