THIS WEEK'S DEEP HOUSE BOPS

Reinhout

Reinhout's 'Distant Ground' opens like waking up in an unfamiliar room. The track builds from slowly evolving melodic fragments and warm organic textures, resampled analogue synth sounds carrying the whole thing forward without forcing a dramatic turn. There's a stunning sound world here, synth work that's fantastic, and subtle rhythms that never crowd the emotional centre. Somehow it's kinda intimate and expansive at once, a meditation on what we carry when everything else shifts. And the production? Gorgeous, letting every element breathe. Brilliant atmospheric deep house, tender and fully realised.

Reinhout is the moody, introspective project of Oslo-based producer Stijn Reinhout Firmin Viaene, back with us again after 'Not Enough' seven weeks ago. While his Firmin alias chases sun-drenched soundscapes, this one lives in autumn's contemplative embrace. 'Distant Ground' is the debut single from forthcoming album 'What Remains', with live dates planned later this year. This one hits hard and if it's anything to go by, the album should be a beauty. Stunning.
