'Frequently' opens unhurried and stays there. Royce J rides Ricandthaedeus's hazy production with a delivery that never strains for attention but earns it anyway. The track pivots on its vocal arrangement: stacked harmonies that draw from gospel tradition rise beneath the lead, turning what could have been a simple flex into something with genuine emotional weight. Lyrically, it moves through attraction and lifestyle with the ease of someone who has stopped trying to prove anything. I love the cute synth counter-melodies in this, but it's the hook that stands out here. Excellent atmospheric trap, confident and richly textured.
Royce J is a Kansas City artist who handles his own writing, engineering and mixing from a home setup running FL Studio. Under his production alias Flight Beatz, he has built connections that run deep into the scene, working with Master P, Big Court and Grammy-winning producer BlaqNmilD on tracks including 'Rich'. The balance between fierce delivery and vulnerability never tips too far either direction. Excellent dark hip-hop, aggressive and emotionally honest in equal measure.
