APG – The City Where You´re Living
APG's 'The City Where You're Living' is a sweeping, symphonic indie folk triumph from Finland, one-man orchestral ambition that hits every emotional beat
APG reaches for something huge here, and he gets it. 'The City Where You're Living' tells a familiar story, one partner leaving for New York, the other left behind, but the arrangement lifts it into something cinematic. Strings swell and brass punches through, building the longing into something you feel in your chest. The vocal sits right in the middle of all that orchestral weight, never lost, carrying the ache of the lyric. And the hook? It lands, and there's enough of a hint of The Blue Nile here to love it even more. There's a moment where everything opens up, the brass section crests, and the whole thing just soars. Big, bold indie folk songwriting, sweeping and deeply felt.
APG is a 45-year-old multi-instrumentalist from Lahti, Finland, and he does everything himself: vocals, guitar, strings, brass, production. All recorded in his home studio. He's been releasing original material since 2018, drawing on 80s pop influences alongside modern pop rock sensibilities, and he performs regularly across Finland. 'The City Where You're Living' dropped back in June. Really glad to have him on the blog, this one's got a lot going for it.
