THIS WEEK'S POP BOPS

Sef Fah – Manola

Sef Fah's 'Manola' is a Latin pop gem from London, sun-drenched melodies and a Eurovision-ready hook that demands repeat plays

Sef Fah

This one's got serious pop instinct. 'Manola' opens with warm, rolling percussion before those Latin melodics sweep in, bright and propulsive. There's a story here about a fictional girl, but the real draw is the arrangement, layered and confident, each element slotting into place exactly where it needs to be. The vocal duet sits right in the pocket while the production shimmers around it, all warmth and movement. And that hook? Properly infectious - in a wonderful, understated way. The whole thing feels summery and wonderfully alive. Brilliant Latin pop, bright and irresistible.

Sef Fah is London-based, Paris-born, and back with us again after 'Escondida Do Sol' a few months back. Songs arrive fully formed for her, melody, lyrics and arrangement all at once, like a radio switching on. For years she struggled to translate that internal sound into recordings, but AI tools have given her a way to experiment until the track matches what she hears. 'Manola' is out now. A real highlight this autumn.
