THIS WEEK'S ROCK BOPS

Electrobuddha – The Man Who Killed The World

Electrobuddha's 'The Man Who Killed The World' is a compelling slice of eco rock from Glasgow, a psychedelic wake-up call that hits with real conviction

Electrobuddha

'The Man Who Killed The World' opens hard and doesn't let up. Electrobuddha tackles wars, genocide, starvation, and global inequality head-on, wrapping the message in layers of retro psychedelia. The opening line lands immediately: satellites falling from the sky, time running out. Strings swell beneath driving guitar, while the vocal delivery carries genuine weight. There's a classic rock foundation here, maybe with a touch of britpop, but the arrangement reaches further, layering samples and lush orchestration to good effect. Whatever eco rock is, it's this, and I love it.

Electrobuddha works out of his Glasgow home studio, affectionately dubbed Electrobuddha Towers, handling everything himself: drums, bass, guitar, strings, vocals, lyrics. His catalogue leans into retro psychedelic territory, with tracks like 'Biba Love' and 'Hippie Girl' showing an artist unafraid to challenge norms. Semi-retired from active performance, he remains committed to conscience-driven music that resonates beyond entertainment. In an era where political commentary gets sidestepped, this one stands out. Really glad to have him on the blog, cos this is a big, bold banger.
