THIS WEEK'S SYNTH POP BOPS

AquariO – Get Some FCKN Therapy

AquariO's 'Get Some FCKN Therapy' is a dazzling hyperpop debut from Los Angeles, alien textures and raw confession colliding into something thrillingly unhinged

AquariO

AquariO's debut single opens like a transmission from somewhere else entirely. 'Get Some FCKN Therapy' throws you straight into a soundworld of fractured beats, distorted rhythms and vocal layers that shift between intimate confession and full dancefloor release. There's a bleepy restlessness to the production, textures arriving and dissolving before you can pin them down, but the emotional core stays locked in. My fave is how the track moves between darkness and euphoria without ever settling, and that's the point. Brilliant hyperpop, chaotic and completely magnetic.

AquariO is a queer electronic artist from Los Angeles, formerly known as COATS and now stepping into a new identity at a point where everything has converged. The sound sits at a collision point of electropop, hyperpop, alternative dance and electroclash, with traces of Future Garage and house running through it. Every track is written and engineered in-house, keeping the whole thing connected to one singular vision. It's a debut that announces itself properly, and we'll be watching closely for what comes next. A banger.
