JUNØID emerges from betrayal with a neon-drenched synthwave stunner.
"Xenon" pulses with moody synthesisers and driving rhythms that feel pulled straight from a rain-slicked 1985 cityscape. This one's right in that 80s tinged world that I'm a fan of, and the whole mood here gives me that nostalgic vibe, without being too backwards looking. And there's also real darkness beneath the chrome-plated hooks here, a sense of score-settling wrapped in cinematic production. The synth work is great, I think there's a saxophone in there, and the melodies hit with precision. It also includes some absolutely gigantic drum rolls. It's great.
JUNØID is a fresh identity for an award-winning producer with over twenty years in the industry. Based in Neon City, USA, this synthwave project rises from the ashes of a creative partnership destroyed by a mentor's betrayal. The Ø symbol carries layered meaning: island, empty set, negation.
