This week’s synth pop is all sunshine and spark. Bright hooks, warm nostalgia and a real sense of fun run right through, feel-good songs built for windows-down drives, dancefloors and long summer evenings. Press play and let the good mood take over.

JF Roy – Sundress

Bright guitars, big hooks and pure summer warmth: “Sundress” is a gorgeous, feel-good pop-rock anthem from JF Roy, built on one perfect real-life moment.

There’s a lovely, uncomplicated joy to this one. “Sundress” was inspired by a real moment JF Roy shared with his wife on a perfect summer day. And that warmth is baked into every bar, bright acoustic guitars, memorable hooks and polished, radio-ready production courtesy of Austin-based Shannon McArthur. It captures the nostalgia and easy contentment of a great summer afternoon without ever overreaching, the sort of guitar-driven pop-rock that sits happily alongside Goo Goo Dolls, Matchbox Twenty and The Wallflowers. Windows down, sun out, this is the one. A proper feel-good charmer.

JF Roy is a Canadian singer-songwriter based in Alberta whose music blends the energy of modern rock with heartfelt storytelling and messages of hope. Influenced by the likes of Foo Fighters, he returned to music after several years away with a renewed sense of purpose, writing songs meant to encourage and connect. His catalogue runs from uplifting rock anthems to faith-inspired songs and relatable everyday tales, and “Sundress” shows a lighter, sunnier side of that songwriting. An honest, hopeful voice, and we’d love to hear more from JF Roy.

Alekxander – High Fashion Lip Gloss

Born in ten minutes and built to detonate a dancefloor, “High Fashion Lip Gloss” is a gleefully camp shot of high-energy synth-pop from Alekxander.

This one is loads of fun. “High Fashion Lip Gloss” runs on 130 BPM electronic drums, heavy bass synths and bright synth riffs, and it has one of the best origin stories we’ve had in a while: it was born from Alekxander casually applying Dior lip gloss at home, repeating “High Fashion Lip Gloss got that vibe” while pacing the room, and written in a mere ten minutes. Love it. And you can hear that spontaneity, it’s cheeky, camp and completely infectious, all meticulous vocal layering under a gloriously daft hook. Silly in the best possible way. A total blast.

Alekxander is a rising pop-dance artist from Birmingham who proves that great tracks can spring from the most unexpected moments. Drawing on pop and dance icons like Taylor Swift’s 1989 and Cher’s legendary dance records, the whole thing is crafted personally and organically from home, writing, recording, vocal production and layering all handled solo. That DIY approach gives the music a genuine, spontaneous feel while keeping a professional polish, and there’s a real knack here for turning an everyday moment into an electronic anthem. A banger.

ALEJ – Miami Boys

Sharp-witted, razor-sharp and built for the floor, “Miami Boys” is a brilliant tongue-in-cheek pop banger from ALEJ, turning dating disasters into pure escapism.

Here’s a pop banger with its tongue firmly in its cheek. “Miami Boys” spins the nightmares of Miami’s dating scene, real-life app disasters and questionable encounters, into an irresistible dance anthem. It’s all chaos, colour and razor-sharp wit. Co-written with Mitchie Rivera and Daniel Pinango and produced by Dibs (Melanie Martinez, Carly Rae Jepsen), it lands on an electrifying 80s-meets-2010s hybrid sound that packs a serious punch. It’s pure pop escapism, knowing and funny without ever taking itself too seriously, and it opens a bold, technicolour new chapter for ALEJ. Infectious, cheeky and a total banger.

ALEJ is the stage name of Alejandro, an American singer-songwriter born and raised in Miami whose love of music started young, recording song covers on his PC webcam before his sister taught him GarageBand. He debuted on streaming in 2020 with “Too Famous for Me”, following it with the Aries Season EP and the self-produced album Luxe, recorded in his apartment while his producer worked remotely from London, giving him total creative control. That DIY independence has become his signature, and “Miami Boys” shows him leaning fully into his most colourful, confident self. Keep an eye on this artist, we definitely are.

Echoes of MLO – I Know The Game

Atmospheric synths and heartfelt storytelling make “I Know The Game” the perfect slice of cinematic pop from Echoes of MLO, a polished anthem of self-worth.

Echoes of MLO’s new single turns a hard lesson into a triumph. “I Know The Game” is a cinematic blend of modern pop, electronic production and emotional storytelling, capturing that exact moment you finally see through empty promises and choose to walk away stronger. Produced by Christoffer Stjerne, it pairs infectious melodies with atmospheric synths and a genuinely relatable message about self-worth and moving on. There’s a real groove to it, all epic hooks and widescreen production, but it never loses the emotional thread at its heart. Uplifting, heartfelt and produced crisply. And that chorus? A real gem.

Echoes of MLO is the next step for Danish artist Michael Leonardo Ostrowski, a Copenhagen songwriter who marries the storytelling spirit of pop-rock with a modern electronic edge. He’s been making music since his early teens, playing across Copenhagen’s underground scene before carving his own path: first as MLO with “Another Night Out” and the radio-championed “Flippin’ A Coin”, and now under this new banner, channelling big hooks, emotional lyrics and genre-crossing production. Rooted in Danish pop culture but tuned to today’s sounds, he’s all about songs that connect. Love this single.
