Sunny C – Star Ruler
A rolling EBM bassline meets a tense, melodic arrangement on “Star Ruler”, a wavy, brilliant shot of dark electro from Sunny C, immediate and memorable.
Here’s a track with teeth. “Star Ruler” is a substantially rebuilt and remastered version of an earlier Sunny C release, and the rework pays off: stronger vocals, harder percussion and a tighter, more focused production. It’s built around a rolling EBM bassline and a tense, melodic arrangement that sits right between dark-club energy and concentrated headphone listening. It’s harsh, got sharp edges, and a stunning string line. A careful balance of aggression and melody is exactly what makes it stick. A proper dark gem this week.
Sunny C is a Belgian independent electronic artist from Ghent working across coldwave, EBM and dark electro, with a taste for esoteric synth textures. Her sound trades in that classic tension between menace and melody, the harder-edged club tradition filtered through a real ear for a hook, and “Star Ruler” shows an artist happy to go back and rebuild a track until it lands exactly as intended.
