Intimate, dynamic and quietly bold: this week’s pop bop reframes real strength as the courage to be vulnerable, and it’s well worth turning up.

Ruut – Unbeatable

“Unbeatable” reframes real strength as the courage to be vulnerable, and Ruut delivers it as a lovely, intimate contemporary pop gem with genuine depth.

Ruut’s new single tastefully rewrites what strength means. Where “Unbeatable” once imagined the warrior as a symbol of constant courage, it now finds the real warriors in those who make room for vulnerability. And authenticity and softness, and that shift gives the song its emotional core. Co-produced with Grant Cornish and mastered by Blake Morgan, it pairs remarkable dynamics and moving melodies with ballad-like moments that build a deeply intimate atmosphere. This one’s produced like a dream, and is 80s influenced pop is basically my jam. As Ruut puts it, being human is far more meaningful than appearing invincible, and you can feel that honesty in every line. Tender, dynamic and a real zinger.

Ruut is a Finnish-born, Baltimore-based artist whose story is one of real self-determination. Born in Kuopio to two Sibelius Academy students, she was playing piano by ear and writing songs by seven, later moving to Budapest and then Baltimore, singing in church in front of thousands before striking out on her own path in secular music. That relentless drive has produced a string of independent releases and a devoted following, and 2026 marks a real tipping point: a catalogue-wide signing with Meridian and the Finlandia Foundation 2026 Performer of the Year award. Impressive stuff, but it’s the tune that wins the day. A striking, tender voice, and we’d love to hear more.
